Avon Skin So Soft Lotion : A Review

Avon Skin So Soft is one of those products that continue to be an all-time favorite and tradition for many Avon fans. I had never used Skin So Soft lotion, but I had heard good things about it and knew eventually I had to try it if I wanted to be a good Avon Representative. I had to find out what the hype was and if it really made my “Skin So Soft”.

I ordered my 1^st Skin So Soft body lotion about 2 years ago when I first became an Avon Representative. They had a bonus size bottle of the Skin So Soft - Soft & Sensual Replenishing Body Lotion on sale for only $5.99 at the time and it was an offer I couldn’t refuse. At 33oz, the bonus sized was 3x the size of the regular bottle so it was a perfect time to try it.

When my order came the first thing I noticed was how big the bottle was, which made me really happy knowing I got a great deal for what I paid. Here is the description of the lotion that was on the back of the bonus sized Skin So Soft bottle:

Wow! Those are some big promises on that Avon Skin So Soft bottle! But you know what? Avon really delivered. I used the lotion in the evening before I went to bed and I have to say I was very impressed.

First the Avon Skin So Soft “Soft & Sensual” scent is very pleasant, it has a nice fresh floral fragrance.

The lotion is not thick yet it goes on smooth and spreads nicely and it does absorb easily. It’s perfect for the summer when you want a moisturizer that’s light and not sticky or greasy. I prefer using this lotion for the spring & summer rather than year round just because my skin gets extremely dry in the winter. I use Avon’s Moisture Therapy Intensive Treatment Body Lotion for the winter months because it’s very thick, but that’s a different review!

So did the lotion make my “skin so soft”? Yes, it really did! The next morning my arms & legs felt very soft and hydrated! I really like this lotion!

Avon Skin So Soft body lotion has become a part of my own bath & body regimen and now I've become a fan of the Skin So Soft products by Avon too.

Our Mothers and Grandmothers have sworn by it, and even a Google search on the topic will give you thousands of results as well as a 101 more uses for the bath oil! I've been asked so many times from my customers whether the Skin So Soft Mosquito myth is really true? I had to get some answers! I needed to know!
But after searching the Internet I came up with no more info than what I started with. I found many websites with comments from users who had sworn that the Skin So Soft product worked for them as a bug repellent, but at the same time, there were the same amount of reviews that said it didn't work. So a bit confused, I ditched the Google search and went straight to the source. Who else but Avon themselves would have the answer. I couldn't find any information on the Avon.com website but with a little digging I found it on my Avon Representative pages!
So to clear the air once and for all on the Avon Skin So Soft Insect Repellent myth here is the official statement directly from Avon.

Skin So Soft Bath Oil is not an insect repellent. It is a moisturizing bath and body oil product.

Skin So Soft Bath Oil is a moisturizing bath oil, not an insect repellent. Therefore, it is not registered as such with the EPA, and we may not make insect repellent claims about it. Please see the complete line of Skin So Soft Bug Guard Plus Insect Repellents for all your bug repellent needs.

So there it is, Avon has not confirmed nor denied the myth but in so many words has said " It's Just a Bath Oil! "
Now that's not to say Avon doesn't have an Insect Repellent line, in fact they took full advantage of the the Skin So Soft myth and came up with a great repellent from what else, their Skin So Soft collection. The Skin So Soft Insect Repellent is called Bug Guard is an 8 hour insect repellent that provides protection from mosquitoes, gnats, sand flies, no-seeums and biting midges. It's hypoallergenic, and dermatologist-tested. It comes in a variety of mosquito repelling products to choose from for the whole family and is safe for children.

Looks Like Fergie Has Another Hit!

But it's not her music I'm talking about, I’m talking about her award winning fragrances from Avon.

I just got my order of Outspoken Intense from Avon and in my opinion it's a winner! I spritzed it on this morning and now 6 hours later it still smells strong and wonderfully delicious. I can't stop smelling my wrist because it just smells so good! Now as you know with every fragrance, it really all comes down to personal preference as well as body chemistry and what may smell great on one person may not cut if for another but Outspoken Intense really does have a fresh lovely scent. I'm not one for the real "perfumey" type of fragrances so this fragrance suits me just fine. There are two varieties of  Outspoken by Fergie:

The original perfume made its debut in May 2010 and in May 2011 it won the Fifi 2011 New Fragrance Celebrity of the Year Award. Outspoken by Fergie has also been Avon’s best-selling fragrance launch ever. It also has become one of my personal favorites. The original Outspoken by Fergie has a berry & tuberose fragrance (tuberose has a sort of Gardenia & Jasmine type of scent) then the fragrance is injected with a contrast scent of leather. When I first tried Outspoken I liked it from the start. It’s a heavier scent but it’s light enough to still wear during the day










Outspoken Intense by Fergie Eau de Parfum Spray(just released August 2011)

I thought I liked the original Outspoken by Fergie but now I think I like Outspoken Intense even better! Outspoken Intense by Fergie has a fruity citrus top note with a floral gardena/passion flower mid note. Just think of berries and kumquat along with passion flowers and gardenia. It smells really good! The two fragrances have completely two different smells but in my book are both winners.

Outspoken by Fergie (the original) and Outspoken Intense can both be purchased at Avon for around $30. Avon often has specials though so you may find it at times on sale for less or with an accompanying free gift. Check the Avon website for current prices and specials here.

Avon Collectibles: Holiday & Inspirational Gifts from Avon

When my son was a toddler, a close family member of ours “Tata” would always give him cute holiday gifts that he always looked forward to receiving. Whenever a holiday came along, his Tata would bring him toys that would sing & dance, holiday decorations or jewelry. One day I asked her, “Where do you get these cute gifts?” and she said, “Avon!” That brought me back to when I was young and remembered the Avon collectibles & gifts back then. There is TT Cow, Jordy Bug, Duncan Dog, Dilly Pig, Rorsie Lion, Trace Frog, Chloe Mouse, & Austin Elephant. These playful pals can be found throughout the product line making bath time and playtime fun and interesting for babies.
